So the first rounds of March Madness is over and it seems like everyone’s brackets are destroyed. There have been upsets galore in both rounds. The first upset that I would like to talk about is the Ohio over Georgetown. This was the first of many games that began the destruction of my bracket. Georgetown went into the tournament fairly hot and was expected to make it into at least the second round. They had one of the poorest games that I’ve ever seen in the tournament’s history for a number 3 seed by losing 97 to 83. At least every other upset was a close game and fun to watch.
Even after all of the first round upsets, many brackets were still standing strong going into the second. That is where almost everyone’s brackets completely fell apart. The two biggest upsets were St. Mary’s over Villanova and Northern Iowa over Kansas. Many people could have predicted the St. Mary’s upset because of Villanova’s inconsistency throughout the season. The N. Iowa win over Kansas was one of the biggest upsets in tournament history. It was one of the more exciting games of the tournament with Kansas’ almost comeback at the very end of the game. The outcome of the game ended up helping my bracket tremendously, since I had Kansas losing in the Elite eight and many people had Kansas winning it all. Highlights of the game can be seen in the following CBS sports video clip.
With Kansas out of the picture, I believe that Kentucky has a clear path to winning the tournament. It would be a great thing to see St. Mary’s against N. Iowa in the championship. Who doesn’t love the underdogs, but we all know there is a slim to none chance of even one of the teams making it. My predictions for the next round is for Michigan State to overtake N. Iowa by just a couple and Baylor just crushing St. Mary’s.

This tourney has been absolutely epic and ofcourse full of bracketbusters. Crazy that all of the number ones have taken the fall except Duke. I think the tourney is Dukes to win now in my opinion. Coach K and his experience i believe can win it all. Not takin anything away from the other coaches but usually when coach K makes it this far he knows what to do from here. Plus Scheyer’s a savage.
